Pancake Day in the UK, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is the last day before Lent begins (Ash Wednesday), traditionally a feast day to use up rich ingredients like eggs, milk, and butter before the 40-day Lenten fast. It’s a day for Christian reflection and confession (“shriving”) and is celebrated by eating pancakes, often with toppings, and sometimes involves pancake races and community events.
