So, I’ve spent the last… I don’t even know how many years, it was so hard to keep track after a while… as a decoration in Jarhead’s bathroom, and wow, things have really changed while I was gone. There’s a Science Fairy now? What? And magical backup is lethal?

Yeeeesh. I’m so relieved I won Fairy Idol back in 2003, not in 2026, because at least back then… well… I wasn’t at a risk of literally dying at work.

Let me reintroduce myself then:

I am Norm the magical genie, and I haven’t been seen on this platform *checks notes* since at least 2018. And you, unfortunately, get three rule-free wishes!

This is a roleplay/ask blog for Norm the Genie from Fairly OddParents. The mun of this blog is unknown147082troper on Tumblr/unknown20troper on AO3.

Hello! Oof that’s a tough question. I generally have a hard time rereading my writing after I post it.

I do like chapter 14 and the whole winter market date, I thought that was very fun and cute. I got to stuff in all my favorite cutesy, flirty tropes in there just for the fun of it.

Any time I get to write the kids just being goofy kids also makes me smile. So the whole playing pretend scene in chapter 4, or Peri and Dev having a dance off in chapter 8, or Hazel and Dev in the winter market, or their little cameos in chapter 18. They’re fun, and it’s a good break from having to think ‘okay this child needs to simultaneously be more emotionally intelligent than the adult but not so emotionally intelligent that they’re given the burden of taking care of them.’

But I think my favorite chapter, which was also my favorite chapter to write, is Dale’s flashback chapter. It is probably the chapter that came the closest to actually being what I envisioned in my head when I first planned the fic and that makes me SO happy. I’m pretty proud with the tone I managed to strike with that chapter overall and tying it back into present day Dale’s conundrum. It’s the only chapter that I can reread and not notice all the ways I could change it lol

But I’m curious what other people’s favorite parts were!

Everyone is happy and everything ends well, the ending “←‍🩹*, and don’t get me wrong, I find it adorable, but… I always felt that it went too smoothly. I love your story not only because it’s a breath of fresh air, but also because you highlight Peri’s obvious imperfections and show their consequences. Sometimes I feel like most people ignore these flaws to get a quick happy ending 😅

and once the dust settles and things calm down, i imagine most of the time they do get on like a house on fire but definitely in an ‘enabling the worst parts of each other’ way. peri tries to avoid this whenever possible.
