Vampires based on vampire bats: The classic, beautifully edgy, incredible idea.
Vampires based on fruit bats: The wholesome subversion, light and fluffy in tone, maybe a bit silly.
Vampires based on the vast majority of bats: Do they just eat tiny insects? Are they just a little weird and off-putting but not in a cool way? Are the blood and fruit varieties relatively extremely rare? Are they seen as weird medical conditions?
What I would give to have enough time to create my own fantasy world with fully flushed out biology of different species. Bro I would do the whole rice map thing and fully flush out all of the terrain and each biome. I would go into depth on the intelligence of each species and leave mystery’s that have yet to be solved. I would make multiple communities of intelligent species and write out the dynamic between each group. I would make an ancient species that held lost knowledge that is still being researched. God only if I had time
I want to experience life with only you.
I want to laugh with you, cry with you, and have no other name next to mine but yours.
I want to build a family with you, grow old beside you, and call you my best friend.
I want to tell you ,and only you , the reason I’m in therapy.
I want it to be you, always.
I want to attend weddings with you, dance with you at my promotion, and stand by you through funerals.
I want to walk through every season of life hand in hand.
I want to show up to every event as your wife.
I want you to be my first, my last, my forever.
I don’t want to love anybody but you.

The salty air against her face, against her hot cheeks, felt great, she could feel in her body the drug slowly weakening to the point where she could wal without stumbling. The smell of soup cooking on the fire chilled her skin and warmed her achy chest. Around the fire sat four people, not including her nor Jasper. To the far right sat the doppelgangers, even with their drunken slouching, they still seemed as tall as trees. she could feel an air of mystery surrounding the two boys. She could honestly say that she felt scared to be close to the twins, their arms thick and ready to crack skulls.
on the far right sat a man on a bucket, a pair of monitors on his nose, his hair sandy and stringy piled back in a leather tie. next to him finally was an older man with unruly and wild hair, his beard braided laying daintily on a dark blue shirt with a deep V neck, one of his arms gone and on the stump a fork, these two on the other hand seemed to be gentler giants, kind and warm.
sighing she laid her head in her hands, her salty eyes tired from the emotional night. Bringing her hand up to her wound, she hissed, a deep pain far into her skull, looking at her fingers, sticky, she wrinkled her brow in indifference as there was a little blood on the pads of her fingers. Flickering his watery eyes up, the sandy man abandoned his bowl of stew and walked over to the girl, his steps clunking on the deck, a white bag in his hands. Kneeling next to her, she shrunk back confused at his boldness. Placing his cool and skinny hands on either side of my face, he pulled me closer to his face, although his watery eyes did not meet the girl’s, she gazed into his unintentionally trying to see if this man was a danger to her. His hands felt the same, as to when he had brought her up from below the deck, kind, and twitchy.
Getting up and going below the deck with some of the soup that the one-handed man-made, Jasper made his escape from the thick air that was above the floor.
“ I warned him to be gentle to you,” the man said while he turned my face, poking and prodding everything from her crown to her wound,“ I have enough sickness as it is, the one time I come up for food I find jasper a mangler?”
“ What do you mean sick enough?” she asked the unnamed man as he whipped her face with some sort of treated liquid, the draught cooling her feverish face and making it so that she could not yet feel the sting of the slash.
“Have you not met Caspian?” The man asked, digging once more in his bag, his tone half-heartedly caring.
“No, I have not. Is he ill?” flickering his eyes up to mine, I watched as he cocked his head as if he was saying ‘Uh yeah!’
“Yes, he was shot… it’s infected and I don’t have the herbs to fix it, I used all my herbs on Bastian.” flicking his hand behind him, the fork man waving his stump in her direction as if he were waving to her.
“Now this is gonna hurt like a bitch but I have to stitch this up.” Handing her a shot which she downed. She could feel the pain behind her eyes, the stinging before crying, although this was no time to cry. She could feel my brow wrinkling in worry.
“Here, don’t bite down on your teeth and lie down.” Laying her on the deck, he pulled out a sewing needle, a thin black thread, and finally a cloth.
scooting closer to me, the doctor sat cross-legged. Threading the needle quickly, he washed off her face.
All of a sudden from down below I heard crashing and heavy boots on the wood, frantic running.
“DR. ACKLEY! Dr. Ackley! It’s my father. He’s coughing up blood again!” Stumbling up the stairs was Jasper, his hair in his face and a look of complete alarm.
“Damnit… Again? do I even have any more peppermint for his pneumonia?” Standing up with the needle and thread, he ran over to Jasper who stood still at the foot of the stairs, his hair a mess, his face worried, his front covered in blood.
After talking for a moment, the man ran his fingers through his hair, his brow creased in worry.
walking towards her, needle in hand, he sat down and breathed deeply, his hands shaking slightly. Beckoning the girl to lay back down, he began to suture her head.
“don’t mess up my face!” she joked, trying to lighten the mood. Every poke and pull of her head she could feel, she could feel his free hand holding her head steady against his lap.
she could not keep my eyes off of him, she could not tear her eyes from his long deeply set nose, his slightly parted lips…“ What?” he snapped his voice bringing my mind back down to earth… her head from the clouds…
“You scare me…” she whispered, her hands tapping on her stomach as I tried to settle my nerves.
“Why?…”
“What do you mean why? You scare me.”
she could feel the tension between him and herself, she could feel the thick air, and she could hear the laughing and chortling of the other pirates. Hearing him sigh and feeling him tap her shoulder, she sat up.
swaying slightly, she felt his warm hands on her arms, helping her up. stumbling over to the fire and having a bowl of broth shoved in her direction. a spoon plopping into her bowl harshly. she nodded in Jasper’s direction, thanking him silently.
“So, tell us your story,” one of the twins said as Jasper walked down the stairs again, the wrinkling on his brow coming back as the worrying possibility of missing medicine and his father’s life in the hands of a possibly uncredible doctor.
Vivacious Latina named Sofia.

Hold Me
I just want to feel your arms
a quiet fortress around me,
pull me closer to your chest
where your heartbeat speaks safety.
Caress my hair,
pat my trembling back,
kiss my forehead
and tell me you love me too.
Calm my nervous storms,
promise you’ve got me,
answer my silly questions
like they’re sacred prayers.
And when I ask,
“Do you still love me?”
say it with fire in your voice
that you’d fight even God for me,
that nothing could take me
from the shelter of you.
The two way magic goes wrong is because there are either too little rules or too many of them, as in:
This spell is… too risky, this magic is unpredictable
Vs
We can only cast this spell at 24:00:03 on a full moon during a perigee when the stars are clear enough to be reflected in a sand-filled bowl of water, and it must never be cast on September 12th or June 3rd.

Here are my entries, so far, for Smaugust 2025. For those who don’t know, it’s an art challenge where you draw a dragon for every day of August. There are various prompt lists made each year and you can follow them or come up with your own ideas
The most recent ones are at the top. I’m not great at sticking to prompt lists so I’ve mostly been doing my own things so far but the two at the top were each based on prompts I liked from two separate prompt lists on Instagram
I’m using this opportunity to get to grips with my new tablet and IbisPaint X which is a free to use app. So far I am very happy with both the tablet and the app. My laptop died years ago and my phone is barely holding on and no longer lets me take pictures. So I treated myself to an 11 inch android tablet that cost just over £130 which is a pretty big splurge for me but a necessary one as I needed it for work emails and other boring and not so boring reasons.
