just realized i have never once thought about lightningheart’s transition. i have one single detail about him where sometimes he focuses on his muzzle being the same as his mother’s and getting dysphoric over it. thats all i have on lightninghearts transness he just exists and is trans because he was invented to just be me

applestrike from very early childhood asserted herself as a molly. and both her parents are trans so they could recognize it earlier and she would have had the language/frame of mind earlier to recognize it herself. by the time she goes to her first gathering she’s entirely socially transitioned
thrushleaf had gender feelings around adolescence/teen equivalent age but didnt really process any of it and then got so caught up being terrified she was too much of a burden all the time to try and transition by the time she knew she was a molly. she doesnt come out publicly until after the war. before then the first person she told was applestrike
umbraleap as a kid was always more interested in playing with mollies. one of her moms is trans so umbraleap had a similar experience as applestrike, recognizing herself pretty early in life and most of if not all the other clans’ cats only ever knowing her as a molly
puzzle is intersex and was mistaken for a molly often over the course of her life. as a child her mom was very defensive of her “son” being mistaken for a molly and going through the motions every single time where the other cat always says something along the lines of “wow ive never met a tortie [cis] tom!” as puzzle went on living her own life she would continue correcting cats that she Wasnt A Molly in like the saddest defeated tone of voice ever until she realized that she kinda didnt mind being mistaken for a molly. she kind of liked it. so she stopped correcting people and started asserting herself as a molly permanently

i dont think i posted this. applestrike and hollyfang dont really know how to interact with each other and dont really enjoy each others company but hollyfang is the acting healer for a while and puts together all kinds of plans and routines for applestrike to incorporate into her life to manage her leg and not further her disability. its a lot of effort and careful consideration and requires hollyfang to think a lot about applestrike and learn everything he can about her needs. and seeing him capable and knowledgeable is new for applestrike who usually thinks of him as cowardly and self pitying. also i feel like i did better than usual on drawing cats with significant size difference here
