Another hospital appointment tomorrow
This time to see an ENT. They’ll likely discharge me as the fluroscopy didn’t show anything on my neck.
I booked the morning as WFH then flexi leave so it’s basically half day. Then I’m meeting two colleagues for dinner and drinks 🥰

Since finally going back and rewatching it, I’ve been able to appreciate how much of the stuff that made me cringe as a teenager is very clearly Purposeful - like, Archer is brash and rude because that’s how they’re trying to set humans apart from the other races. We’re the himbos of the galaxy, and I really like how they tone that down and “grow into it” over time. By the time we get to season 4, when they start sowing the seeds that’ll one day become the Federation, it really feels like the payoff was earned.
When it comes to individuals, too, I think Enterprise really excelled at subtle, long-term character development. Archer’s resentment and desire to prove himself growing through experience into a grudging respect for the Vulcans’ approach. T’Pol’s friction with the High Command and the roles expected of her. Malcolm gradually opening up and learning to trust the crew, and then again with the MACOs in season 3. Hoshi coming into her own as an explorer and not just a prodigy.
I think most emblematic of all this is Archer’s attitude toward T’Pol. The way he shows his respect and trust, and the way she dishes it back to him - I’ve been utterly delighted by the dynamics of their relationship, and surprised at how much I’m enjoying it now that I’m older.
Like, I kind of think the type of story they were trying to tell needed to be a bit cringe, because at heart it’s a coming of age story, and being cringe is a part of figuring life out. Now that I’m almost 30, I can appreciate that in a way I really didn’t as a teenager.
