Oh, man…poor little sucker. Maybe the damn recent Hard Freeze did something to him. I’m damn surprised at actually seeing 2 Dead Skunks in one day (2 on the highway the day prior) then I find ANOTHER DEAD SKUNKY THE NEXT DAY AFTER??!

Fortunately, Dad & I have made some Really Longass Metal Hooks some years ago for Branch Cutting.
One of those (& my bigass Aluminum Shovel) certainly came in handy for this very task.
I took the poor galoot wayyyyyyy out beyond our propertyline, & laid him right at a big Mesquite Tree trunk.

A decomposing deer I found torn apart and in the woods near my house.
I’ve always found rot and decay so intriguing. Beautiful even.

Most people shy away from Death. They do not think of him. They treat him as if he were a repugnant, forgettable creature. They turn their heads away when he comes, pretending not to know his face.
I cannot forget Death. I have seen him in his ashen robes. Eyes cast to the depths. Withering the daisies with his fingertips.
He smiled at me once. Let me tell you: we are lucky to have him.

Found a poor little dead opossum just outside our fence. It must have been hit by a car. I moved it to a more wooded area in between our fence and the neighbors and maybe it’ll get cleaned up enough but not dragged off so I can collect most of the bones. I could definitely speed up the process but would rather let nature take its course.
