Gli ultimi dati sui DCA diffusi in occasione della Giornata Nazionale del Fiocchetto Lilla (15 Marzo) ci consegnano un quadro allarmante: in Italia oltre 3 milioni di persone soffrono di Disturbi del Comportamento Alimentare e i primi casi si registrano addirittura all’età di 6-7 anni, numeri in costante peggioramento negli ultimi anni.
Per affrontare una problematica sempre più diffusa occorre avere una rete adeguata per la cura multidisciplinare ma serve anche una strategia di prevenzione e intercettazione precoce.
La psicologia scolastica e gli psicologi di assistenza primaria hanno una funzione cruciale in questa direzione.
Quello che non viene raccontato -spesso- oppure ciò che non vuole (per evidenti difese sociali messe in atto) essere visto è che i disturbi del comportamento alimentare hanno poco in relazione con il cibo in sé.
Il cibo diviene solo un mezzo per elicitare una sofferenza molto più nascosta e radicata nella psiche umana.
Il rapporto dell’essere umano con il cibo è qualcosa di complesso e multisfaccettato. Quelle che appaiono come semplici “pietanze tra cui scegliere” celano -a livello simbolico- una potenza che va molto oltre delle differenze in termini di gusti o scelte.
In alcune persone può infatti accadere che la relazione funzionale con il cibo muti tanto da diventare una relazione disfunzionale.
Il cibo -infatti- è fin da subito (fin dai primi istanti della nostra vita), un potente mezzo “mediatore” tra il me e il non me, tra me e il mondo esterno; si tratta pertanto di un elemento che può fungere da aggregatore sociale o da esclusione sociale (come nel caso dell’anoressia). Abbuffarsi di cibo o all’opposto rinunciare completamente al cibo stesso, indicano condotte comportamentali che vanno molto oltre la sola relazione con la pietanza stessa.1
