You keep saying you’re never coming back. Or if you ever are, you hand out a solid disclaimer that the next time’s going to take a long while. Most of your reasons are valid; few are lame excuses. Sometimes, the drive feels much longer than the actual respite.
And then one day, you suddenly find yourself shaking your head with a somewhat rueful smile because, without even realizing it, you’re just there again. You keep showing up like it’s the first time—despite being there countless times before.
And in many but subtle ways, the place keeps showing up for you too. Quietly. Certainly. Tirelessly.
