I guess after having a moment to get angry at what it was and grieve what might have been, you get the precious chance to come to terms with things as they are. With people as they are. With you, your personal story as it is. One keeps running away from it as to not to feel pain, yes. And splitting things into black and white is very tempting. But hearts and bodies are wiser than one may think, and they, too, know how to hold happiness and sorrow at the same time. Is the absolute surrender to our human nature again, no matter how vulnerable and contradictory it might be, that roots us firmly to withstand something that seems so opposite to survival. Not because you know you can take it, but because in order to go through it, you’re willing to lay yourself bare one more time.
What a beautiful thing, to feel the warmth of love and the kiss of pain and the fire of fury and the sting of sadness eternally collapsing and rebuilding within you! What a gift to be the container of impermanence! What an affrent must be for the unrelenting void to stand in the presence of numinous flesh! And what bliss to offer your certainties at the altar of heartbeats, while blood flushes your cheeks and you’re nothing but alive!
