Bluetooth headphones & Linux 🥴

Hi!

I use Bose headphones on my PC for gaming and listening to music.

My eldest is now 10 years old and still uses a cable (3.5 mm jack), but what cell phone still has that kind of connection?

That’s why we got the Bluetooth version for Christmas, and since then we’ve had trouble connecting to the PC.

Realtek “on board” only worked intermittently – awful! Tinkering around (Wi-Fi settings, Bluetooth dongle, etc.) only brought minor improvements, if any.

Last resort: ChatGPT! Short answer to my problems:

“Avantree DG80 – if you really want zero dropouts.”

I did! Ordered, delivered, plugged in (plug & play!) and it works!

Linux doesn’t recognize it as a Bluetooth dongle, but as a USB sound card (with Bluetooth!).

Then I just paired the Bose with the dongle and selected the DG80 via the sound settings (output!) = best sound ever!
