i see it all of the time. it does frustrate me because none of them seem to understand what actually comes with aspd. they romanticize stereotypes, not the actual reality. i never see any of them discuss the boredom or the more mundane side of it. most of them grow out of this phase, though, as soon as the next disorder they will self diagnose with starts making hits. as i said, it is incredibly frustrating and invalidating but what can i do? these people will always exist unfortunately.

i do interact with them outside of professional spaces. and i have regularly hung out with said people. the way that i keep them engaged is by trying to make them feel important as well as by pretending to be into their hobbies. i also pretend to be a relatable person of sorts to them, if that makes sense. i find out everything about them and change my act accordingly. in my opinion and from what i have observed, that tends to make them pretty engaged.

How do you find your symptoms overlap or play into each other? Particularly when it comes to emotions like embarrassment, shame, and grandiosity.

I wasn’t really sure how to word this so I guess I’m just asking for any insight on the experience of having both disorders.

i didn’t think it was possible to be this bored, i feel like i’m actively rotting on the inside.

i avoid disliking people simply based on how unattractive they are because it’s illogical and has no ground whatsoever. but there’s this girl in my math class that is so violently ugly i can’t stop myself from getting homicidal. additionally, as though it weren’t enough, she is the most detestable person i have ever met in my entire life. she has no personality, an awful condescending attitude, laughs so loudly i’m sure she could deafen a 5 year old child, never says anything of significance and i can’t even imagine what i’d be capable of doing in a room alone with her. and she is everywhere i go, at this point i’d rather have my eyes raped then play dead at a necrophilia convention than see her ever again.

I invited someone over after carefully manipulating the situation, and I played it so well that she talked to me for hours until she fell asleep on my floor. I made her feel safe. I used what I knew against her, and she felt comfortable enough to drop her guard. She told me so much for someone who’s only known me for a few days, and she’ll never know that all the little tricks to get in her head that seemed so spontaneous were written down explicitly in my journal the night before. Every expression was preordained. Everything was scripted to get the door to her head open. Neurotypicals have no concept of when people are manipulating them as long as it’s done well, and I don’t think they know that we do this for fun. Life is boring. Might as well play with some people while we’re in it. I hope she dreamed about what I said while she was half asleep, maybe cycled it around in her head when she woke up. I’ve always wondered how well that actually works, and it looks like I have a willing subject. She’ll want an invitation, of course. One I’m willing to give, because I’m now associated with the calm, peace, and physical comfort of the space that I made comfortable for her. It’s genuinely a weird feeling to play such a comforting and soft character when all I want to do is drop the mask. But it’s worth it, and the experiment is going quite well.
