Hey would anyone know why my VPN doesn’t work with Tumblr anymore?

It does look like a lot of attention has been given to making this an anti-censorship tool. Unfortunately this seems to be needed more and more by citizens in many countries today, whether 1st or 3rd World countries.

Growing up in the online world: a national consultation

Hi everyone! The UK is currently doing a consultation on children’s online safety, and they’ve snuck in some very leading questions about how VPNs should be “age restricted” (read: “your ID should be collected in order to use a VPN”)

This is a terrible idea and will grossly undermine online privacy. The UK already has some pretty draconian laws in place around collecting IDs for digital services (I’m calling it what it is, it’s not “age assurance”, it’s ID collection) and this threatens to make it all much worse. Every question on this survey is skippable and you do not have to answer all of them but PLEASE tell them that “age restricting” VPNs is a BAD idea.

There is also a set of questions tucked right at the end that ask if you think education surrounding online harms is more effective than “age assurance”. Tell them yes! Yes, absolutely! Children deserve to be safe online, and they deserve environments where they can have these conversations! Collecting IDs is not going to keep them safe! If anything, it opens children up to more harm!
