An animated look at a simple, clean website UI design.
UI Design: Expert Q&A Insights
1.What is UI animation?
UI animation refers to the use of motion in user interface design to enhance user experience. It includes transitions, visual feedback, and movement of elements on the screen to guide users, indicate actions, or provide context. Well-executed UI animations can make interfaces more engaging, intuitive, and enjoyable, helping users understand how to interact with the application or website.
2. What is UI VFX?
UI VFX refers to User Interface Visual Effects, which enhance the visual experience of a digital interface. These effects include animations, transitions, and interactive elements that provide feedback to users, improve usability, and make the interface more engaging. UI VFX aims to create a smoother and more visually appealing interaction within applications and games.
3. What is UI in AutoCAD?
UI in AutoCAD stands for User Interface. It refers to the layout and elements through which users interact with the software, including toolbars, menus, command line, and palettes. The UI is designed to help users efficiently access tools and features for creating and editing drawings, making it easier to navigate and utilize AutoCAD’s capabilities.
4. What is UI in Adobe?
UI in Adobe refers to the User Interface, which is the visual part of Adobe software that users interact with. It includes elements like menus, buttons, panels, and icons, designed to facilitate user experience and navigation. Adobe aims to create intuitive interfaces across its applications, making it easier for users to access tools and features efficiently.
5. What is UI SFX?
UI SFX stands for User Interface Sound Effects. These are audio cues used in software applications, websites, and games to enhance user interaction. Examples include button clicks, notifications, and error sounds. UI SFX help provide feedback to users, making the experience more engaging and intuitive. They play a crucial role in conveying actions and states within an interface.

Recently micro interaction is creating lot of buzz in the industry. Now a days even in job interview we can expect questions related to it. I did a little bit of research and started realizing why it has the sudden attention.
In a nutshell, Micro interaction defines all the interactions on the screen, in animation format. It is a better way of pressing to the team instead just sharing the style guidelines. This would help the the team to fastening the development step and building reusable pattern library.
Conventionally developers are provided with styles guidelines along with mockup. Style guidelines consist of the key colors used in the design, typography, Icons, UI design and it various sates. Generally they are short document won’t have much information about “how the UI would behave”. Today the style guidelines are no longer required designer can share their files with tools like zeplin, where the developer can directly inspect the design and get the details. Similar prototype can also be made with realistic behavior, with minute details. Tools like UXPin supports booleans where different scenarios can be conditioned.
Presenting the interaction in animation format would explain the flow in a much better manner to the team, and the developers are able to come up with much realistic timelines. This also reduce the time required for coordination with the developers. Now the designer are able to present even complex interaction easily and hence can visual even complex interactions.
Almost all the design tools (including sketch) are having the prototyping functionality. But they are all very static can’t define most of the in page interaction. Tools like principle and Flinto are specially made for this. After effects can be used if the design is made with photoshop. InVision studio and Adobe XD are trying their best but event today they are not up to the mark. With compare to all the interactions design tools, principle ranks the most and manage to create even complex interactions with ease.
Here are some of the tutorial which you can follow and you can view some of the examples made with principle. Thanks for reading.
Your comments are welcome.
Stepper XVIII. Designers asked me what if a user swipes left and will hold such type of button. Could this stepper count faster? So I decided to make a version where we can see what’s happening in this case.
Mobile: we should increase “hit zone” of the button and decrease its velocity to allow a user to interact with the UI and to see what numbers are on the button simultaneously. For each step, we add haptic feedback (subtle enough, using UIImpactFeedbackGenerator .light). When they have “zero” case, we provide the haptic error feedback (UINotificationFeedBackGenerator .error).
Web: Actually, this concept more approachable for touch interfaces, but we can use it if we want to support an alternative way of interaction with UI we are designing or to provide UX consistency across all platforms. #microinteractions #ux #ui #animation #uianimation #uidesign #uxdesign #uiinspiration #designinspiration #dribbble #dribbbleshot #stepper #button #counter #designexploration #uiconcept #mobiledesign

Stepper XVII. This concept is a touches friendly version of the rebounded shot. The idea will fill well on wearable devices and in apps where this type of data picker might play the central role. Consider it as an accent element of an entire screen.
As the previous concept it needs some room to interact, so don’t use the concept when you are designing a complicated form with lots of fields. But — games, lifestyle apps, etc. — you are welcome.
Also, we could use this approach to add an alternative layer of interactions to our UI. It would improve UX regarding accessibility. People who are not able to make precise touches on a screen (to catch the arrows, e.g., children, people with moving tremor or just a mentally exhausted person) could swipe up/down on the screen to set needed data. #microinteraction #interactiondesign #uianimation #ux #ui #uidesign #microinteractions #dribbble #dribbbleshot #prototyping #designexploration #uiconcept #aftereffects #datapicker #stepper #button #mobiledesign #mobiledesigner

Stepper IX. Another experiment with steppers. In this one, I tried to use numbers itself as interactive UI elements.
This approach works well with non-consecutive data (a consequence of items you are not able to predict. For example, a collection of software names in a list of Black Friday deals). I think it will work even better with it because in the case it shows a user which element is going to be selected in the next interaction. Sure, when you work with this type of data, the best way is to show all of the random items to mitigate the user guesses. In sight, in mind. But if you UI has space limits (e.g. you design a data picker for wearable devices) it’s a pretty good solution #microinteractions #uianimation #ui #ux #interactiondesign #uiinspiration #designinspiration #uidesigner #uxdesigner #mobiledesign #prototyping #uiconcept #designexploration #webdesign #mobileui #prototype #dribbble #dribbbleshot

I thought I could use some practice in After Effects for animating my UI designs. So here is my first one.
Hiking app (“Hiker”) is a concept app for hiking enthusiasts and mountain lovers. These are the first 2 screens I created.
