A — Soap Glass Typography Study

This study explores typography as a physical phenomenon rather than a graphic system.

The letter “A” is formed from thick, iridescent soap-glass.

Color is a result of optical behavior — refraction, dispersion, internal reflection — not surface treatment.

Air bubbles are trapped inside the glass volume, varying in size and position, introducing imperfection and tension without decoration.

A material-first approach to type.

E — Honeycomb Typography Study

The geometry follows strict sans-serif proportions while the material introduces organic depth and variation.

Hexagonal wax cells define the form and volume.

Honey is present only in selected areas, dripping naturally under gravity — no excess, no decoration.

This piece explores typography as a physical object rather than a graphic symbol, focusing on material behavior, density, and realism.

The world doesn’t need more fonts unless they have something to say, or become a vehicle for others to say it.

Every year brings something new and takes something away, whether we like it or not. Some years arrive with opportunities, others with challenges. This one was difficult for many of us, and even so, I try to find at least one thing to be grateful for. This year, it was—ideas—Some came to life and blossomed nicely, others didn’t yet. I trust they’ll find their moment, and I hope 2026 gives them the time and space to exist.
I hope 2026 brings good things your way, whether you’re a designer, a foundry, a company, or just a random person who saw our work and thought, “oh, this is kind of nice.” May we keep making things to connect with new humans, and create tools that allow others to express or better shape their own ideas.

Wishing you all an amazing, and creative 2026

O stands for „On Court“ – and on point. 🎾

Today’s letter comes with a sporty twist: a neon-yellow furry “O”, textured like a real tennis ball.

The ball next to it? Just to check if the texture match is legit. Spoiler: it is.

七月主題「視力檢查」
-
看到字體Maze的時候,覺得很像視力檢查的符號。
-
#whatzurtype
is a monthly type design event held by @justfont
The topic for this JUL is 視力檢查(vision test). When I first saw the typeface Maze, it reminded me of the symbol used in the vision test. The intention is to utilize the style of Maze to design the Chinese characters.

Google Fonts – Free Beautiful Fonts for Everyone

Google Fonts is a library of fonts that anyone can use, both for design and for websites. All of its fonts are free and open-source, which means you can use them in personal or commercial work without paying.

Whether you are designing a blog, creating a logo, or building a website, Google Fonts gives you many font styles to choose from. It helps your text look clear, modern, and attractive.

What Is Google Fonts?

It is a large, free collection of fonts hosted by Google.

Fonts here are open-source, which allows you to download and use them freely in nearly all types of projects.

Google provides tools (API) to use the fonts directly on websites and in design software.

Why Use Google Fonts?

Free & Open-Source – No fees, no licensing worries.

Huge Variety – Hundreds of font families, styles, and weights to choose from.

Easy to Use – Simply add a link, then use CSS to apply the font to your website.

Works Everywhere – Google Fonts supports many languages and scripts, making it useful globally.

Key Features

Variety of Styles: From serif (older, more classic look) to sans serif (clean, modern), display fonts (for large headings) to body fonts (for text).

Font Weights & Styles : Many fonts come with different weights (light, regular, bold) and styles (italic, etc.). You can choose what fits your design.

Language Support : Fonts support many scripts and languages, including Latin, Cyrillic, Devanagari, etc. This lets you design in many languages.

Web Font API : Google Fonts provides a simple API so you can embed fonts in your website. You only need to include a small link tag and CSS rules.

Performance : Since fonts are served via Google’s servers (CDN), they load fast. You can also choose only the subsets or styles you need to reduce load time.

How to Use Google Fonts

Go to fonts.google.com and browse the font library.

Pick a font you like, choose the style and weight.

Click to get embed code (link tag) or download the font.

For print or design software, download the font file and install it on your computer.

Benefits of Google Fonts

Cost Savings – Since fonts are free, no need to purchase expensive font licenses.

Design Flexibility – Many styles let you create different moods: professional, fun, formal, casual.

Global Compatibility – Works well across devices, browsers, and languages.

Better User Experience – Clear, legible text improves reading and design quality.

Fast Setup – With the embed link, you can get a good looking font on your site in minutes.

Conclusion

Google Fonts is essential for anyone who works with text, design, or websites. It makes beautiful and high-quality fonts available to all, without cost or licensing problems. Whether you are a blogger, designer, business owner, or student, using Google Fonts helps your content look professional, attractive, and easy to read.

#whatzurtype
is a monthly type design event held by @justfont
The topic for this APR is to draw a story about the failure of communication, and design “傷心”(sadness). The story I got was about misunderstanding in a communication so the concept was to make the characters look like a labyrinth as incomprehensible as humans’ hearts.
