·      Reflect on your understanding of “folio thinking.”

In my opinion it would be more relevant and meaningful to articulate what you know and what you have learned about educational technology. As I stated in some of my previous reflections when referencing hierarchy of learning the word create is at the top of the pyramid. As a teacher, I believe that if you can create something related to a topic this is the ultimate form of understanding. You are taking what you have learned and expanding on it/ growing it. Answering questions and having someone judge your accuracy and depth is great, but does it show truly your depth and understanding of that topic?

I would prefer to articulate what I know and have learned from this experience to provide evidence of my learning. I believe the opportunity to create will allow me to deeper understand and prepare myself for my academic and professional goals. Don’t get me wrong, I do think it’s important to be able to answer questions about a specific topic, but I believe this is only the first part of truly understanding a topic. You should create, analyze, evaluate, apply, understand and remember to truly get a sense of what you are studying.

·      Identify technology affordances.

Digital or electronic portfolios can always be a work in progress in compared to physical portfolios. The work that was previously done digitally can be altered or edited. Physical portfolios are much harder to edit after created. In addition, from my understanding of the “folio thinking” digital and electronic portfolios can be life long and life wide which extends the number of viewers and extends the time frame your work can be seen.  I searched and explored amongst several different tools to create my eportfolio. I looked through Wix, Wikis, Websites, Google domains, Tumblrs etc. After searching through the tools, I decided Wix would be the best choice to create my eportfolio. was very user friendly allowing several options to create websites for users. There are easy templates to get started with and these same templates can be edited. Wix can be used as a portfolio, website, online store, vlogs, blogs, fashion and home décor sites and much more. The limits for WIX are extended past just a basic website.

·      Shift context/perspective.

In choosing what tool would work best for students it really depends on what age your students are. You want to make sure that your tool is user friendly and age appropriate. A 3^rdgrade student might find it very difficult to create on online portfolio, whereas a high school or college level student would find it easier to create an eportfolio. For high school level students, I might try to find a different tool to use that did not have as many website creation options because I would not want them to get overwhelmed with the abundance or options. For college level students, I believe Wix would be a great tool because they have most likely already been exposed to this type of technology and would be able to work at a more advanced level of creation.
