Genuinely what makes you believe that? Lets look at canon facts.
Seasons 1 and 2 make it clear he is closest to Mike.
Season 3 he is upset that Mike is spending less time with him and doesn’t want to play DND. When Will is upset over the no DND he is only upset with Mike for not wanting to play but doesn’t mention that Lucas was also poking fun at him.
Now if he had stayed in Hawkins for S4. He would be in the Dnd crowd. He likes DND and doesnt care for sports. He also has never shown any explicit care towards Lucas. So if it was genuinely between playing DND with Mike or watching Lucas basketball game i do think he’d play DND. Not only does he gravitate more towards Mike but he would also finally be getting what he wanted in season three which was to play with Mike, he wouldn’t give that up for Lucas.

anyway. it only took me like six rewatches of season 4 to notice
but there is something profoundly sad about Eddie’s remorse and guilt in leaving Chrissy behind at the trailer only for him to also get left behind at the end of the season

maybe it’s an unpopular opinion, but the arch with the soviets is a load of nonsense. the series would be so much better without them.
in s3, they could’ve explained the new gate with the fragility of the scar tissue, that the tiniest of disturbances was enough to bring the mind flayer’s spawn back to life. no need to great dozens of plot holes there
in s4, i’m not even sure what purpose it serves. hopper could’ve been trapped in the upside down instead of a prison
the work they’ve done is outstanding, i loved the actors and the decorations, it looked great, but it was unnecessary. it just distracts us from the main plot, and i’d rather get to know the main characters better

Eddie was a strange guy and lowkey had to go. He had a weird ‘best friend’ relationship with 14-15 year old FRESHMEN at his big SUPER SENIOR age and lowkey didn’t do anything to try and prove his innocence. I did not like Eddie. - The guy that no one invited .

Why the fuck would Vickie say that? What does she know? How does Vickie know? Was she trying to play a trick? But Vickie also likes girls; she kissed Robin first. Why the fuck didn’t Chrissy kiss Robin first? It was their fucking anniversary and here Vickie was open to say it in front of everyone. Still wanting Robin all to herself.
“Chrissy?”
Chrissy wipes the not yet fallen tears away carefully with her eyeliner she let Eddie draw on her a couple hours ago.
“Baby?” Robin’s voice comes through slicing through the thick foggy air.
Chrissy spins around. There in the basement that hasn’t been claimed for reproduction tonight. It mirrors the wheelers almost exactly except there’s a washing machine and dryer and less colorful furniture. The whole house had a very minimal look to it. Beige walls and light wood furniture. A lamp was left on and thankfully Robin locked the door.
“Can I hold you?” Robin asks and Chrissy catches herself and makes herself breath in and out. After a minute she nods. She moves herself to the couch where Robin follows and quickly Robin pulls Chrissy on her lap.
Chrissy smirks when Robin wraps her arms around her waist letting Chrissy dip into the cushions letting her legs swing over Robin’s jeans. Robin smells like gardenias and sweat. Her deodorant wafting in the space colliding with Chrissy’s rose perfume she knew she sprayed too much of but Robin never minded.
“What did she say?” Robin questions. Her voice expressing she has no idea of what happened while still with worry.
Chrissy shakes her head. “She questioned me about our friends. About us.”
Robin’s eyebrows furrowed. “What did she want to know?”
Chrissy’s throat feels dry and she lays her hand on top of Robin’s jeans where both their hands find each other.
“Our expiration date.” Chrissy confesses.

Ok so, after season 5, there was a major plot hole that really irked me from season 4
what was the point of the grandfather clock? The school counselor that all of the students went to also had a grandfather clock key necklace. If it was that important of a thing, why was it never mentioned again in season 5?

fyi Mike wasn’t sending Will any letters throughout the time he was making that painting. And he wasn’t aware that Mike was trying to call him either. Yet…..he still made that painting and had hope in that airport
