why does X artist get so much play?

  • big music owns big radio. ariana grande gets pushed to big radio by big music
  • 3 music labels own 69% of the world’s music catalogue
  • iheartradio owns the most radio stations in the US

also research shows popular songs are not popular bc they are good but bc they play so fucking much

by playing a song so often it increases your chance of hearing the song during a positive event. humans like songs that they associate with positive things. this is why the songs of the summer are SO popular and this is also why a lot of top 40 is popularized by teens with more time [to listen to music] on their hands

if you don’t like it listen to independent artists and radio and get off streaming apps owned by big music
