Ah! Well, Renier has been on the mind lately, so I’ll do him and his partner, Runar. The dynamic shifted just a little because Runar very recently found his ‘marked. It’s a sore spot; Renier’s 'marked is presumed dead after the attack 20 years ago that left Renier’s magic permanently locked away within him, trapped in his human form. Renier doesn’t resent Runar, but it stings to remember how briefly he met his own (less than ten minutes), and how young his own was (roughly 7-8 years old), while Runar’s is a full grown man who is fully capable of defending himself and surrounded by people who will protect him if need be. Renier fears Runar’s loss if anything happens to Runar’s 'marked before they can meet proper and cement the bond. Not all of the shift is bad though! Runar has only had draconic forms for the last 20 years; snuggles are possible but increasingly concerning as Renier’s body deteriorates from the trapped magic unable to escape. Now he’s able to actually hold his partner with less worry of accidentally crushing him, and even give out well deserved kisses and hugs and comforting touches. They’ve been basically attached at the hip for the last few days plot wise now that Runar’s able to do exciting things like hold his hand when they walk together.

10-333 Il méprisait les lettres de sa mère
Voilà bien des années en Chine, un jeune homme qui avait vécu uniquement pour les plaisirs mourût sur un bateau qui voguait sur le fleuve Yangtze Kiang. Le plus long fleuve d’Asie, cinq mille cinq cents kilomètres.
Sa mort n’avait été que le reflet de sa vie. Les autorités trouvèrent parmi ses papiers, un volumineux paquet de lettres qu’il n’avait jamais ouvertes. C’était des lettres de sa mère. Le paquet fût retourné à celle qui en avait été l’auteur, conformément aux règlements consulaires.
Et cette femme eût ainsi en même temps la douleur d’apprendre la mort de son fils et le chagrin de constater que les lettres qu’elle lui avait envoyées, n’avaient jamais été lu.
Quel fils indigne s’écria-t-on à juste titre !
Mais, combien de personnes méprisent également la parole de Dieu, la Bible. La lettre que Dieu a envoyé aux hommes dans son immense amour. S’ils la possèdent, ils ne la lisent pas, s’ils ne la possèdent pas, ils ne cherchent aucunement à s’en procurer une et à la lire. Alors que cela leurs serait si facile de le faire.

okay i know that i’ve designated renier as a total hard*ss most of the time (apart from occasionally being a flustered mess) i like to imagine that if he hadn’t been royally screwed up in his youth (edgy backstory yay)/gets better after the events of delru he would be this soft sweet boy that just LOVES flowers n books n stuff ghghgghgh i love him

i don’t think i know anything about renier? and i know very little about hroarr
well hroarr is the dragon heir; he holds a very powerful and respected place among dragons. One day he’ll be their leader, and everyone is aware of this. he’s a quiet, almost too serious sort of man. He’s been raised to know he’s going to be leading his people (dragons?) and he takes it very seriously.
I know he’s best friends with Renier and Runar, and that they both were going to be in his inner circle when he became the Elder. He’s aryleigh’s dragon (or rather, she’s his marked) and he’s been looking for her for almost two decades now. He’s actually a little hurt at how much she hates him, because he’s never going to wish her harm, and has been desperate to keep her safe for her own good. He’s very book smart, something he and Renier bonded over, and a lot of his schooling has been skewed that way, but he’s semi decent with fighting just because tensions with elves are rising and he needs to be able to defend himself?
I’m not sure if he’s bi or gay but I’m starting to think he’s also on the ace spectrum. Don’t quote me on that though, because it’s definitely subject to change as i write.

I know the least about Renier! What role does he play in the story?? What’s his goal?? What’s he like personality wise??
Renier gets swept up in some elvish drama. They keep coming to the dragon’s continent, and no one knows what they’re doing or why, but no one would really have noticed if he wasn’t wandering the remote parts of the continent while trying to find a way to get his magic back. So not only is he searching for a solution to unlock his magic again, he’s also dealing with dragons who are being assholes towards him, and elves that are aware he’s trying to raise awareness that they’re sneaking around on the dragons land.
He’s pretty stubborn and determined. He can get very singleminded, and is desperate to prove himself, which is a huge juxtaposition to the fact that he’s one of my more laid back characters too. He’s kind, but can be a little suspicious. He tries his best to keep his emotions close to his chest; that sort of thing is for behind closed doors, you know?

Without Etheline, he did not need control. He let the magic free in a wild wave, let it pulse from him without caring what got harmed, as long as it kept the elves back, back, back. As he released the raw power, he screamed. The sound ripped at his throat, tearing up his voice. It hurt, so much. Sobs tore from him as the cry faded, but he pushed harder. His forehead touched the ground, and his fingers dug into his skin beneath his hair as he pushed for more, more magic, more power.
