I think at this point Knuckles is the most obvious answer.

One, I think gliding and especially climbing make him more interesting than most. The problem I guess is that Knuckles was part of The Final Horizon for Sonic Frontiers, so maybe that’s off limits. Or maybe its a chance to take that and strengthen it even further. You could get way more overt with the comparisons to Breath of the Wild.

I also think that if you’re trying to bring Knuckles and the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald back into the fold, giving him a solo story to explore history helps a lot. I don’t have any ideas for that off the top of my head, I’m just saying it’s an easy door to open, and maybe an easy way to get in his head and show his thought process.

Knuckles is just full of a lot of untapped potential in a lot of ways.
