Is it just me or the whole Guiding Hand thing was kind of meh?

I know, I know, It’s late to talk about it but I just finished re-reading 2005 IDW and I just can’t like that part of the lore.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the IDW universe and it’s probably the best Transformers universe that ever existed, but some decisions just don’t sit right in my mind.

IDW has some beautiful original ideas and twists that not many other continuities explore (Ultra Magnus being a title, Megatron turning into an autobot, Starscream becoming a good person, Thundercracker’s redemption, Shockwave’s backstory). And the complexity of the story isn’t my problem, I think it’s what makes IDW even more fun to read sometimes, given that there had been some continuity errors that they had to face overtime, but that wasn’t their fault, the universe was adding lore for 13 years.

I wasn’t entirely sure about the ‘Thirteens not actually being Primes’ thing, but I think they handled it pretty well. But the whole Guiding Hand thing was a turn-off for me.

It felt like such a weird way to rewrite Primus’ lore, but also Transformers lore in general. I liked the addition of other 'gods’ like Adaptus and Mortilus, but they didn’t feel right.

It’s not something that makes you stop reading the comic, but it’s more something that makes you close it for a moment, look up at the ceiling in contemplation, and then continue to read it, accepting that it happened.

Really don’t want for people to think this is some sort of 'Look how I’m so much different than the rest’ post, because honestly, I don’t even know how fans reacted at the time, but it does feel like something you don’t want to repeat or do again in the Transformers franchise.

For anyone else that has read IDW, did you like the Guiding Hand part?
