Kevin gets a dog since Jack of asses Sal isn’t there anymore. The dog, as an animal, can sense things that they can’t see when awake and among the normal, mundane world and not asleep in their dreamscape/astral plane space. The dog starts growling warning signs giving them a clue that something isn’t right.
It starts off with Double Dee panic attacks. Can sense that he’s about to be off, and the dog pads over and sits down on his feet while Dee’s sitting on the couch. It actually helps, this pressure on his feet and legs from this medium sized animal that’s just sitting there, with him. When out and about, Double Dee starts wanting to hold the leash, pausing in a crowd to pet the fur, easing his nerves in a crowded place that otherwise would have set him off.
The dog doesn’t like sleeping at Kevin’s house if it knows Double Dee is next door and alone. Almost like it can smell the panic attacks happening. Kevin feels a sick pull in their bond as his dog scratches at the bottom of his door, whining. Giving in, Kevin follows his dog out of the house and next door, fetching the hidden key to let his dog bound through into the living room.
Kevin trains his dog and gets harnesses where he can carry his dog on his back like a pack basically, and he goes out riding (slower with the dog on board of course) and hiking and camping with him. The dog finds the biggest sticks all of the time and proudly shows off by running past, the end almost hitting Kevin’s head, knocking his hat off.
I need to think about names for the dog still. I’m undecided, wanna call him Benji or something. A brown american pitbull or a black lab is what I’m thinking
