Palantir Technologies is once again in the spotlight as bold predictions about its future spark a mix of enthusiasm and skepticism across the investment community. Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives made headlines this week by forecasting that the data analytics and AI company could reach a $1 trillion market valuation within three years — a massive leap from its current worth of around $250 billion.
The upbeat outlook came despite a surprising downturn in Palantir’s share price. Following the release of its first-quarter earnings, the company’s stock dropped as much as 15%, closing at $105.32, even though it reported a 39% year-over-year revenue increase to $883.9 million and raised its full-year guidance.
ALTAnalysts say the sell-off reflects deeper investor unease about Palantir’s sky-high valuation. The company currently trades at a staggering 561 times its earnings, with a forward P/E ratio of 148 — dwarfing the S&P 500 average of around 20.
“Palantir trades at 64 times projected 2026 revenues,” said Louie DiPalma, an analyst at William Blair. “Even if the stock were to be cut in half, it would still rank among the most expensive software companies.”
Despite the valuation concerns, bulls like Ives remain confident that Palantir’s deepening role in government contracts, defense tech, and artificial intelligence infrastructure positions it as a long-term winner in the emerging AI economy.
Palantir has cultivated a strong brand as a high-security analytics firm, supporting operations from the U.S. military to Fortune 500 companies. The firm is also expanding its commercial presence, aiming to reduce its reliance on public sector revenue.
Still, market experts caution that maintaining such a premium valuation will require Palantir to consistently outperform expectations and demonstrate scalability in the competitive AI landscape. The company’s next steps — and investor reactions — will determine whether it becomes the trillion-dollar tech giant some foresee or falls short under the weight of its own hype.
I sold all of my Palantir shares this morning. On a whim, I bought a few shares back when they were like $18 a pop. It’s gone up wildly since, with a crazy P/S ratio to match. So I’m out. The stress of waiting for the price to drop- because historically that’s what happens to tech stocks with valuations this crazy- just isn’t for me. I’ll stick to my sane, rational indices from here on out, haha.

Right so i just want to address the PLT rebrand real quick.
Firstly, what in the world are they doing trying to paint themselves as a high class brand. It’s nonsense. Their market should have stayed aimed at the girls on low incomes. The girls that needed a ‘pretty little thing’ that they could afford.
I don’t agree with fast fashion, no, but I do think that every girl should be able to feel good. Whether that be on a night out, or at brunch or whatever, despite their background and financial circumstances. So to all those women making videos saying that there are girls that are now ‘outing’ themselves morally for wearing PLT, can actually fuck off.
Also personally, I don’t like wearing my super nice clothes on a dirty night out, there I said it. Come for me. If I’m going for brunch or I’m doing something sophisticated, it’s a whole different ball game, but if I actively know I will probably ruin it, with wine or a rip, why would I pull out my designer stuff? That’s just pure silliness, but also I DONT THROW IT AWAY?! I always reuse materials to make my own clothes, ITS A WIN WIN.
My second problem is, when I go on PLT I expect to get what I paid for. If I pay £15-£20 I expect to get something not all that amazing in materials, but what has truly annoyed me to the core, is that they have ramped their prices up and not changed the quality of their products. It’s unacceptable.
Well anyway… RIP PLT I guess, it’s been good babe.
