Back at the cinema again… at this point I swear I basically live there 😂

Cold Storage - is a light horror comedy.

The story
A fungus spreads… and turns people into mindless zombies?! Yep, we’ve all seen that one 😂
Does it do anything new? Hmm. Not really. It all felt kinda familiar. Nothing innovative.

I also think the movie was trying to be funny. It just didn’t really land for me.
And the CGI was honestly rough in parts. Like, exactly what you already saw in the trailer. Just look at the deer.

The few horror moments
heads popping, bodies
sounds intense, but… nah. I’ve seen way harsher and way more detailed.
And it doesn’t always have to be full-on gore 😅

I’m guessing a lot of people are gonna watch it for Joe Keery. Fair enough.
And for the more sensitive girls among us who aren’t really into horror
I think you’ll be fine 😅

But
if you don’t have much time and you’re choosing between this and another movie
pick the other one
and just watch Cold Storage at home.

Cast
Joe Keery, Georgina Campbell (she was amazing in Barbarian), Liam Neeson
all solid.

The movie and everyone involved don’t take it too seriously. That’s part of the charm and it gives it a light B-movie touch.

Lucky Charm selfie

Meet “Bella” a Zwergpinscher (Miniature Doberman Pinscher) of one of our neighborhood Lotto operators near the Sacred Heart Hospital of the Southwestern University PHINMA (SWU), in Cebú City

I was actually very happy to find how friendly this dog was, as my first experiences with Zwergpinschers, was with my grandmother’s named “Dobbie”. The dog was over protective and very yappy, making our visits to our grandparents in Tarlac City, quite irritating.

Maybe Lotto patrons can pat Bella for some luck…

Kong’s Crazy Cousin: The Glorious Madness of Mighty Peking Man

“Mighty Peking Man” (1977) is a flamboyant and unrestrained cinematic creation from Hong Kong’s legendary Shaw Brothers Studio. This movie stands as a testament to the sheer, unadulterated joy of B-movie spectacle. Often labeled simply as a “King Kong” rip-off, this film rises above such reductive categorization. It weaves a tapestry of genres and visual extravagance. This quality has cemented…

Beneath the Surface: A Monster Movie That Sinks Itself

I’ve been reading about this film for a while now, primarily in Fangoria and HorrorHound magazines. Most of the reviews have been favorable, and I’m always up for a new monster movie. However, Beneath, directed by Larry Fessenden, is not your typical “monster on the loose” film—and honestly, I wish it was.

The story follows six high school seniors celebrating one last time before heading off in…

Roger Corman’s Wet and Wild “Humanoids from the Deep!”

Growing up as a teenager in the 1980s, the name Roger Corman held a special significance for me. I never had the chance to see his films at the local drive-ins where they thrived. I made up for it by devouring them on videocassette. Some of my fondest movie-watching memories are tied to his films. After all, what’s not to love about monster movies packed with gore and over-the-top thrills?…
