This is a different kind of button repurposing project: buttons glued to a wine cork to make a DIY wax seal / signet stamp. That’s very clever! How-to by Patti Estep at Hearth and Vine.

I’ve always been fascinated by the similarities between the Jamaican accent and some Irish accents from Cork and Kerry. This speech by a Cork politician a couple of weeks ago went viral on Jamaican Twitter :)

The connection originates from the thousands of Irish who were sent to Jamaica as indentured servants by the British in the 1600s. There, they worked the plantations with the enslaved Africans and, when freed, eventually settled, intermarried, and influenced the development of Jamaican Patois.

Microblading works best on certain skin types, and results can vary a lot depending on oil production, pore size, and skin condition. Here’s a clear breakdown 👇

Best candidates

These skin types usually heal beautifully and keep crisp strokes:

  • Normal skin – balanced oil, small pores
  • Dry skin – especially ideal; pigment holds very well
  • Combination skin – as long as the brow area isn’t overly oily

⚠️ Can work, but with limitations

Results may be softer or fade faster:

  • Slightly oily skin – strokes can blur over time
  • Mature skin – depends on thickness and elasticity; strokes may not stay ultra-sharp

Not ideal for microblading

Other brow techniques are usually recommended instead:

  • Very oily skin – excess oil causes strokes to expand and fade quickly
  • Large pores in the brow area – leads to blurry, uneven healing
  • Thick, coarse, or very elastic skin – strokes don’t stay crisp
  • Acne-prone or inflamed skin in the brow area
  • Very sensitive or reactive skin (higher risk of irritation or pigment rejection)

🧠 Pro tip

If someone isn’t an ideal microblading candidate, powder brows, ombré brows, or nano brows often give better, longer-lasting results, especially for oily or mature skin.
