Harambee Harambee - Daudi Kabaka

1965
Gentle Kenyan groove, full of warmth
In case you missed my introduction to the King of African Twist, here’s your chance to catch up.
Bright guitars, steady rhythm and Kabaka’s inviting voice create a quietly infectious flow.
African Twist - Daudi Kabaka

1960’s
Kenyan twist at its finest – vibrant, rhythmic, irresistible.
Daudi Kabaka was one of Kenya’s most celebrated vocalists of the 1960s, known for his ability to blend traditional Kikuyu melodies with contemporary pop and dance styles.
I love how African Twist combines lively rhythms, catchy guitar lines, and Kabaka’s charismatic vocals.
Mutumia Muriu - The Lulus Band

70’s
A gentle Kenyan whirl
The Lulus Band balance groove and calm so naturally here — it’s rhythmic but never rushed, mellow but alive.
I will always be a krbk shipper, bkdk could kiss on screen and I’d STILL be a krbk shipper
2014…
That’s when I got my first Pokémon game, Pokémon Black 2. I played it, loved it, and kept playing it of and on ‘til this day.
What keeps me going back isn’t the atmosphere, or the music, or even really the game play. They’re all great in their own right, but this isn’t why I’ve spent over 500hrs on this one game.
No. Not at all.
Generation 5 has an interesting twist on the battle facilities in Black Tower and White Treehollow. It’s a training facility where you can earn BP and other prizes. It’s gimmick? No items.
This got little me confused - “Why isn’t my level 100 Samurott not strong enough!?!?”
So, I moved on. Played Pokémon X, transfered my old Team, lost my old Team via loosing my copy of X on a day out with family, played Alpha Sapphire and became obsessed with it, stole and played my sister’s copy of White 2 because I wanted a rock, played all of Gen 7 once, skipped Gen 8 and got a copy of Pokémon Black off ebay before the scalping nonsense, and played Pokémon Violet, all while meticulously working and not working on a fanfiction about some kid in Team Aqua going on a personal growth journey without actually publishing it (its almost here, I promise).
In that time, I learned about some important things about Pokémon:
1. You’re favorite team member might suck. This is Gleak, he has a cool name. I stuck him in the daycare because he’s genetically predisposed to be WEAK. It wasn’t until I met my darling Apollo in Violet that I learned that Gallade could have a chance…

2. That spamming attack moves isn’t the way to go. Set up is very, very important, especially when some moves are effected by status effects and the like. I’ve come to like status effects and hazards, and welcome anyone to try poisoning my Brelooms or do anything to my Cleffable (gen 5 only tho XD). I pray my Venoshocks are deadly.
3. Team Diversity. Something playing Violet taught me is that your team isn’t just the 6 Pokémon you have in your party, it’s also whoever’s in your storage. You can bring and take them out of the party as needed. Black Tower Caviat - since this is Gen 5, the PC box is stationary. However, if they reintroduced the tower in some way, they would probably disable it.
4. Patience is a virtue (and I am not a patient person). Gen 6 introduced the full-party EXP share, saving time from grinding and the like. In Gen 5, it is an item you give to a Pokémon. It’s (probably) best for getting a lower-level up to speed.
5. Team Coverage and Balancing - since there are no items, you need to know how to cover for each of your Pokémon’s weaknesses.
So, this is me in Black Tower. Can I do it? Sure. But how long will it take me? Who knows…
