Summary:
It’s an ordinary day at Azmuth’s lab until Ben comes to visit with some news, turns out the Omnitrix is sentient.
Had an idea for an Owl House/Ben 10 AU
We start a few months after Ben and Rook witness the creation of the universe, in Gravesfield Connecticut, where a ten-year-old Luz Noceda finds what seems to be an Omnitrix replica with a cracked, greyed-out dial half-buried in the woods. Then, impulsive child that she is, she puts it on, at which point she discovers that it is both very much real and not entirely inactive because it immediately grafts itself onto her.
The relevant authorities get involved pretty quickly and it turns out that while the damage is minimal enough that the self-repair system should’ve fixed it in a couple hours, there’s an excessively powerful and complicated stasis spell on the device, one centered around what looks like a crescent moon sticker on the back. A spell so powerful and complicated that nobody can actually figure out how to safely get rid of it. Even Azmuth can’t get it off of her because it’s not active enough to accept codes.
So Luz is just stuck with a completely useless version of one of the most powerful objects in the universe attached to her arm. As if she wasn’t weird enough…
Then four years, several false leads, and a poorly-thought-out book report later, she stumbles into the Boiling Isles and hugs the stuffing out of the last living Titan, and with the spell broken the Omnitrix finishes repairing itself around when Wrath chops Eda’s head off.
(As I’m sure you’ve gathered Luz’s Omnitrix previously belonged to the Archivists. Specifically, they retrieved it from a dead universe since they needed at least one for the Archives but all the ones with active wielders are off-limits due to being too important to Reality’s continued existence. It’s damaged and inactive because that’s just what it was like when they found it. How it ended up in Gravesfield is Spoilers.
It looks like the original series Omnitrix, except that when it’s damaged all the green bits are grey and after it’s repaired it gets Stringbean’s color scheme for some reason.)
Taking a shot at him for petty revenge I 100% get but why would Vilgax even bother returning to Earth in UAF to get the Omnitrix off Ben when, as he himself says in the movie, now that he knows Azmuth is alive and where to find him he can just take the guy prisoner and force him to make as many Omnitrixes as he wants. Or even something better. One’s a superhero armed with the most powerful weapon in the universe who’s outplayed him time and time again, the other’s a grumpy five inch tall old man with woefully inadequate security.
Wait, so Ben’s romantic/sexual tastes change to reflect his species when he transforms? Azmuth created the Omnitrix just so he could bone down with alien chicks didn’t he.
Ahh, I froze for a second, because I I’ve never really written Azmuth and Ben interacting one-on-one on the page. But I thought about it, and an analogy came to mind. At least, if I were the one writing them, I would write them with that energy.
To me, they have the relationship of a student and their favorite teacher (not in a weird way ofc). The kind you genuinely respect, learn a lot from… and absolutely joke about behind their back.
Like you know; Ben know azmuth’s intelligence and respect it deeply, but that respect don’t make Ben afraid of him. They’re close, but not as close as you’re with a friend. They’re warm, but not in a family-warmth kind of way.
It’s more like: Ben trusts Azmuth’s mind, and Azmuth trusts Ben’s potential.
Andd, It honestly gives me a little Harry and Dumbledore vibes. Like, that dynamic where one of them is clearly operating on a much bigger scale, and the other is still allowed to be human and messy. Azmuth knows far more than he ever says. Ben doesn’t know how much he doesn’t know and that’s exactly why Azmuth keeps helping him.

Azmuth says in Alien Force he created the Omnitrix to be a genetic repository for every sentient species in the galaxy to preserve life in some form in the event of a mass extinction. Ben’s carrying almost every known intelligent lifeform there is on his wrist.
Part of me wonders what would have happened it ben sat down and talked to his villains after they were locked up in plummer HQ
Sat down with albedo, brought in some chillie fries and smoothies and talked to the guy- tried to understand what its like for him (I mean we know ben feels smarter when he is grey matter, imagine how much dumber albedo feels, he’s probably constantly frustrated with himself– like you ever sit down and kick yourself because you know this! But you just cant do it for some reasons… maybe after a few weeks of talking albedo would just blow up and say all he wants to do now is return to his galvan form, and then maybe ben could help somehow
What if he sat down with animo and talked about how his work was denied of its value, and how he was left to rot in some dinky disgusting apartment for all those years until he snapped with his mutation ray
What if he sat with fistrick and offered him a better way to make money? Imagine a muti species gym that uses gravity tech to change the weights of the equipment– Imagine if ben10 sponsored it and tested how the equipment felt for all these different species
And yeah I doubt it would always work– maybe animo would have an episode and snap back into his old self
Maybe fistrick would be tempted back into the game by old friends
Maybe albedo would let his arrogance take over and instead of using Ben’s help he betrays him for the omnitrix or azmuths brain or whatever
I just think it could be neat
Ben ends up on the Highbreed planet naked screaming at imaginary coconut trees, Azmuth accidently invents real-life male pregnacy
I mean having just multiple planets in danger after UA and AF would be really low stakes for one, since the franchise has already topped out at universal even just in the original series.
That being said why wouldn’t those species already be in the Omnitrix database? The only reason the Anur aliens are mostly not in it is because the Anur system is lawless and doesn’t recognize the Plumbers authority and the Andromeda aliens are from another galaxy.
That being said I’m not even sure how you’d alienify the various martial aspects. It’s not like a mummy or vampire or something you could easily make an alien species out of, those are all just aspects of combat.
That and as Omniverse has shown most every planet already has a planetary shield in place.

I watched Superman today — oh look it’s Dr Jeffrey Cole disguised as Mr Terrific! And look Lois lane is from the blacklist!! And then there’s a chunk of the cast in Boston Legal that have played in star Trek in some shape or form so the scenes kinda mirror that long term acting relationship. And then Paul Lewiston is azmuth in Ben 10 omniverse? Oh my god the neurodivergence I’m way too excited about this hahahaha

Instead of being the creator of the Omnitrix, Azmuth is a famous universal inventor who creates machines that make the lives of all aliens better. He’s also Grey Matter’s father, with Zennith being their mother, as she and Azmuth are happily married in this au. They are very worried about how dangerous Grey Matter’s job can be, with Azmuth even visiting Earth to make sure Grey Matter is okay, and even being a mentor to Ben and the other aliens. So, in this universe, Vilgax takes the role that Azmuth has in the prime Ben 10 universe, while Zs'Skayr(who is Ghostfreak’s little brother in this au) takes Vilgax’s role as the main villain whose goal is to steal the omnitrix from Ben and use it to take over the universe.
(Also, I made Zs'Skayr the younger brother because I thought it would be a funny subversion of expectation, as people would probably expect him to be the older brother)
