Price strikes me the kind of person who watches so much diy content on the little spare time he has that he’s convinced it’s all easy.

Cue when he calls you, a local plumber, all embarrassed because he tried to fix his sink himself. Him flustered when you show up, bashful when you end up being the sweetest thing about the whole disaster.

Afterwards he’s turning the interaction over in his mind. He has your number now, doesn’t he? Just in case.

He wouldn’t mind having a plumbing emergency again. After all, he does make enough money. So when the sink mysteriously clogs, he knows who to call.

No, he’s sure the whole vat of bacon grease he- no, the boys poured down the drain has nothing to do with it.

This fic was written (and image drawn) as an entry for the “Hindsight 20/20” event on the CoD Collective discord server. I took the opportunity to play around with a setting I have future plans for… some day! The goal was to write 20 sentences, first starting with 20 words and each sentence one word shorter than the last.

Where once there was Simon, now only ghosts and wraiths reside — vampiric monster of thirst hunted by Kin and Kyne. 

Hunger and fear fill his veins, the burning sun’s rays long forgotten, dread of final death his forever companion.

Price forbade the diner months ago, but still the Ghost is drawn in, lured by the softness inside. 

The cooling coffee cup in his hands — even as the smiles of you remain, warm and soothing.

It was a big thing, feeling welcome in his state, the voice and cravings bubbling beneath. 

Tommy says to feed, promises sweet relief for one more night to quell the want.

But no, not today, not here, not even tomorrow or the day after either. 

Promises for Tommy, to quell the void and sink the teeth in later. 

Some day, he tells himself, some day there will be a way.

Stalking in the shadows for some other creature to drain tonight. It wants the teeth, Tommy, thirst in the teeth, always. 

Simon says, just a cup of coffee for now.

To hunt is to live, for hunger unending.

Simon says, I like to be here.

Words in the head, slipping thoughts. Run, it shouts, voices ringing. Blood, elixir of life. It calls, cries.

It yearns.

Blood.
