Too many to list !!!!

Yeah, way too many to list!

I used to be pretty good at separating an entertainer’ politics from their work. Hell, I still love the 60s-70s hippie war protest music.

But I absolutely will never again watch a Tom Hanks movie. The revelation that he’d been to Pedo Island felt like a personal betrayal. I can’t enjoy any of his work without that shadow. And I loved his movies.

Now he can eat shit and die.

Brie Larson and Rachael Ziegler are the two that come immediately to mind. Not so much for their politics, even though I think their politics are abhorrent, but because their general cunty natures come across in their “acting” and I hate looking at their faces.

I’m much more likely to avoid writers and directors based on their political or social views than I am actors. Because actors don’t always influence the characters they play or the stories they’re involved in, but writers and directors absolutely put their own views into everything they make.

Mandy Moore and I have no idea why. the only thing I’ll watch with her in it is Saved and that’s only cause she has a meltdown.

I don’t know what it is about her she just rubs me the wrong way for some reason. hasn’t done anything wrong afaik.

and that chick in midsummer/black widow. same deal with Mandy, she just rubs me the wrong way for reasons I can’t put my finger on.

Will Smith, Brie Larson, Amber Heard

Mindy Kaling 😒

Tom Cruise, Jared Leto, Gal Gadot.

theory: whatever paltry single-digit number of devs tumblr has left doesn’t know how to keep up with the site maintenance so they’re just wholesale stealing code from other social media platforms that are still being actively maintained

second theory: devs’ metrics are being measured by number of new features implemented instead of maintenance of a smooth-running status quo because we live in terminal Number Go Up society so if you aren’t doing More you are actually doing Nothing

Griping continues: I LOVE when I find a post that so deeply resonates with me and I have a deep and genuine “Amazing post OP! Yes and yes and yes and–” and now I can’t “Yes and” without stealing ALL the note engagement from my reblog onward??

No more engaging with OP? No more building up a communal post? No more stupid funny back-and-forth posts without bearing the stink that every person commenting is stealing the notes and the tags and compliments and the thoughts?

I have to shut up on everyone else’s posts now. You all have to shut up on mine. I hate that!!! I like to talk and I like when yall fucking talk to me.

Everyone mumble in the tags forever I guess. Anyone who adds a comment unthinkingly gets shot in the street.

And like. One or the other has to win, right, if they do this? Either it’s “No Reblog Chains Forever” or “Wanton Note Stealing Forever.” Which one sucks less? Is it sadder to kill all conversation before it happens out of respect and consideration, or to go “Ah OP I love this post and have all these thoughts to tell you. Sorry that doing this is stealing the notes. Sorry. I wish it wasn’t.”

Do you just create a website of split opinions? Commenters who are wincing while doing it but genuinely want to express community and engagement, and OPs watching them with hostile disdain for stealing the fucking post?

I DID IN FACT JUST NOTICE THIS. WITH THIS POST.

MY REBLOG STOLE MY OWN FUCKING ENGAGEMENT. WHERE DO I CHECK THE NOTES ON THIS NOW 3-PART POST? FUCK ALL IF I KNOW

it’s rolled out for me and i literally cannot see reblogs on individual posts at all in half the cases. this genuinely sucks so much. totally kills any of the appeal of using this website.

it’s somehow even worse than i thought because someone can reblog without ANY commentary and that ALSO strips the notes from the OP. this is so insanely bad. apocalyptically bad

TELL THEM YOU HATE THE NEW UPDATE

Use Feedback and tell them you don’t want the reblog chain shattered like they’ve done

MAKE SOME NOISE

Text
usearki fantasticwhovian
usearki reblogged fantasticwhovian

if you want to give feedback on this update:

^ this is what the e-mail says when you send in a support ticket. i wouldn’t stop sending in manual feedback, but it’s a good idea to do what this says and reblog the changes blog’s reblog of the announcement post with your commentary.

do not add commentary onto somebody else’s reblog comment. the update has already been rolled out, and they might not see that ‘separate’ reblog chain. another example of how awful this is and how it’ll force us to change how we interact.

@staff as a Tumblr user for the last 12+ years, the idea of reblogs turning to “Twitter/Bluesky-like” chains is repulsive beyond comprehension. Tumblr is a blogging website. What makes Tumblr unique is the reblog system, where users can reblog a post to their blog and others can do the same.

What’s NOT unique is hiding reblogs behind separate “chains.” That just makes navigating this site even worse. Not only that, but it kills engagement.

Listen to the users of this website and DO NOT consider implementing this update @staff

Okay, tumblr.com, fuck it. Creators have been starving for reblogs for years now so I’m ready to accept zero.

If creators no longer get notes for their original content then any gifs I make from now on will be set so that no one can reblog them. Followers can hit that ❤️ if they want and/or reply then that’ll be the end of it.

Only my followers get my content. I don’t know how else to combat this & still create & share things that make me happy.

Do you think that the new Tumblr notes update (March 16th, 2026) is a good idea?

Yes

No

Since some of you don’t seem to understand how this ‘new notes’ thing works, I’ll break it down:

I’m the OP. I’m making this post. If you like, comment, reblog (without comment) on this post, then I’m the one who will see all those notes in my activity page.

However…

If you reblog (with comment), I will get a notification that you did that, but any likes/comments/reblogs (without comment) you get on that reblog will only be shown to you. As OP I won’t see them.

If someone adds a reblog (with comment) to your reblog…as OP I won’t see that. I won’t see any of those notes in my activity page.

Basically, if someone with a large following makes a comment, then they will get all the notes and OP will see nothing. If OP has said something silly because they’re, y'know, 21 and it happens, and then someone reblogs it onto the dash of someone with a large following who then dunks on them for fun? OP doesn’t see it, doesn’t get notes for it, but they’re gonna get the harrassment for it in their inbox.

If I, someone with a 5 digit follower count, reblog something to correct misinformation on Ancient Egypt, then OP will never see it unless it was on the original post, but I will continue to get notes on that post even though it’s not my post. If I reblog fanart, or just art in general, with a comment like 'Oh this is so lovely!’ then OP will not see any of the notes from people reblogging it from me. They’ll only see my reblog. So it’s possible for an art post by someone else to have 200 notes for them, but 9000 for someone who reblogs it with a comment, and the OP artist will have no idea it’s been seen by that many people.

It’s killing blow to the community we’ve built here, by someone higher up who doesn’t understand that being able to see all the comments and reblogs is what makes this site the place I keep coming back to.

That’s what sucks.

I encourage people to go to tumblr’s support page, select contact support, and then in the dropdown menu select 'Feedback’ and leave polite and constructive feedback (for those of you who enjoy 'emails worded politely but are a strong 'are you an idiot?’, try that way of wording it). They’re more likely to listen to you if you’re not an asshole about it. I’ve already gone and done this, and I hope others will too.

Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.

Soon, you’ll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog’s author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn’t add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn’t lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we’re only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be… a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

This is horrible I can’t see the number of notes on my posts at all without adding up everything in the chain

Cursed cursed cursed evil evil evil

Y’all know what to do now Tumblr - we gotta spam the feedback forms to make ourselves heard >:(

There’s a feedback form??

I want to be able to keep up with conversations happening on my post so I can interact with them! Please don’t do this

if you would like to send feedback, you can go to https://www.tumblr.com/support

Made it an actual link.

So if you really enjoy a post (especially art!) and you want to show love to the OP, you kind of have to specifically reblog from the OP, or they’ll never, ever know, and that’s… so sad.

oh my god this dogass update even applies when you reblog your own post with an addition to your own post on the same blog.

I made a post about a dream I had. Opened the notes:

a few minutes ago, I reblogged the post and added more info about the dream. using the same blog as the original post, with no one adding anything between. i wanted to see if there were new tags bc i like reading tags ofc so i clicked on the notes on my own reblog:

Nothing. From now on if you want to see all the commentary on your own damn post you have to go back to the original. Amazing update that everyone will love.

usearki waldwasser

genuinely I think this will disincentivize making additions to posts because adding a single thing will chop the notes up for both the OP and anyone else trying to read them, I feel like the natural shift in etiquette will be for all commentary to stay in tags and replies and doing anything else will be seen as impolite unless absolutely necessary

There’s a LOT of royal family souvenir stuff in charity shops in the UK at the moment but at least this one is slightly interesting - it’s a souvenir pin badge for a coronation that never happened. (Also I appreciate that the staff try to provide a bit of background history for items!)

This was in the Sam’s Place charity shop in Plymstock, UK.

tbh it’s already irritated me that it’s become like a socially enforced ‘rule’ to not add commentary in a reblog and to keep it to the tags. like people will get mad at you for adding to their posts if your specific addition ends up getting more notes than the original but at the end of the day reblog commentary is part of the function of this website so it’s like oh well yknow. but now it will actually be kinda rude and inconsiderate for a blog with more followers than OP to do something as completely innocuous as @'ing a friend in their reblog thus taking notes from OP.

so people are just gonna use an original core function of the site even less lmao. awesome work.

Staff: “We Have Successfully Removed Tumblr from Tumblr, which made Tumblr worth using.”

FIJMU News 3-16-26 by Tor Mentnexus

For decades, reblogs have made tumblr a near-popular site, even inspiring platforms like twitter to include a retweet feature before it was turned into x-crement. Now, tumblr has successfully removed this feature to make the site far worse.

According to tumblr prime-minister Karl Lipidbrain, “Tumblr has always worked hard to alienate its users, from its harsh treatment of the trans demographic, to its ban of nipples (which nearly 1/5th of its users have at least one of) and all the way back to the time we deleted the whole site to spite the weebs. But now, we are making the entire note system into absolute useless shit. Soon, we should be able to boast a zero user count and make tumblr small enough to throw out in the back dumpster.”

User outcry has been immediate and strong, which tumblr staff will ignore because of course they will.

Reblog counts from the same post. The image with one reblog was from a chain that had at least seven reblogs.

This is a really terrible idea and ruins everything that tumblr is.

why would i bother posting in a place and wouldn’t let me see the fruits of my labor.

fuck this.
