“IMPORTANT UPDATE”
Visa change that may impact Australia’s international students and post-study work visa holders

As per the new regulations for the Temporary Graduate visa stream (Subclass 485), applicants who have previously held a 485 visa as a dependent will no longer be able to apply for this visa as a primary applicant.

Highlights:

As per the previous criteria, a 485 primary visa holder could not apply for another 485 visas as a primary applicant, but their dependents could.

The recent change, however, prevents all (primary or dependent) from applying again as primary applicants, barring a few exceptions, clarifies Melbourne-based migration agent

This change will hugely impact those couples where the dependent applicant has just completed studies and was planning to apply for a 485 visa as the main applicant to buy more time in Australia

USA’s Health Department has announced that, United States will now mandatorily require Negative COVID-19 Test for all international students flying to USA for future intakes.

USA’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will require proof of negative COVID-19 test from all air passengers entering the United States. The test must be taken within the 3 days before departure to the U.S. The student will require to take their passports along with them to the COVID testing centers.

This order will become effective on January 26th

Students who are leaving country on or after January 26th 2021 are advise to contact their airline for detail requirements about Flight onboarding requirements.

Become a chef in Australia and carve your way to a Permanent Residency!!
Follow these easy steps:

Step 1. Get your qualifications in Australia (2years course or RPL)

Step2. After completing your qualification, your next step is to apply for Temporary Graduate Visa (SC485). This is an 18 months work visa, which will give you full time work rights in Australia.
During these 18months you need to do your FULL skills assessments (TRA). You need to work as a chef full time for approximately one year.
To apply for SC 189, 190 or 489 you will need to reach between 65 to 75 points to get invitation from Immigration.

Step3. While working as a chef try to push up your English score, at least IELTS 7-7-7-7 or PTE 65-65-65-65 to claim 10 points; However, you might score 8 all bands (PTE 79 all bands) and claim 20 points.
REMEMBER: If your English is below this score you might target another visa subclass. Can be hard to reach the desired points if you English is the around IELTS 6 (all bands)

Step4. Apply for EOI (Expression of Interest) and wait until you receive the invitation from the government.

Step5. If you are targeting SC 190 or 489 apply for “State Sponsor”.

Step6. Apply for PR

English language Proficiency Update

Covid-19 and at home language tests
Some testing centres are providing versions of their tests that you can take at home, such as TOEFL iBT – Special Home Edition, OET@Home and IELTS Indicator. Immigration do not currently accept these tests.

​​To prove you have Proficient English, show us evidence that in the 3 years before we invite you to apply for the visa, you scored one of the following:

IELTS - At least 7 for each of the 4 test components​
TOEFL - At least 24 for listening, 24 for reading, 27 for writing and 23 for speaking
PTE - At least 65 for each of the 4 test components​
OET - At least B for each of the 4 test components​

Score Ranges

English testing associations will some of the time adjust or change their score ranges as new research and knowledge about English testing is developed. We consider these changes cautiously before we make any adjustments to the scores required for our English Levels. Where it is concluded that scores will change, a notification will be put on this website with information on how it may affect yo​u.
