Understanding Leads to Purpose

“Why do you think scientists spent so much time building the Periodic Table? Bikin grup per elemen, ngitungin jumlah proton elektron, even shell arrangements juga dipikirin. Atom kan kecil, ngga keliatan, biar apaaa?” Sebuah pertanyaan yang kutanyakan kepada murid-muridku di sesi akhir pembelajaran materi Atom.

Beberapa ada yang mencoba menjawab serius, tapi jawaban “ya biariin” tak luput dari anak-anak gen Alpha ini.

“Scientists didn’t do all of this just to make things complicated. They did it to UNDERSTAND PATTERNS. Ketika mereka memahami, maka mereka mengenali. The more scientist understand an atom, the more useful that atom becomes for life. Dan sama kaya kita. The more we know ourselves, understand our strenghts and weakness, realise our arrangement and potential, the more meaningful and useful we can be in our lives.” Aku melengkapi jawaban mereka untuk menutup pembelajaran pada hari itu.
