I realize that some people who want to sign the #SlotOut petition I’ve been circulating may be new to Change.org’s format and how petitions are signed on there. Therefore, if you didn’t know before, here’s a brief directive on how to make sure your signature counts:
- Copy-paste the petition link in a browser tab. The link given should work.
- Under the number of signees (usually given on the right of one’s computer screen; the number is 77 at the time of writing), there is a section that says “Sign this petition”. There, you can enter your first and last name, email, and location (nobody else will see this on the petition). You can also select whether or want you want your name to be visible on the petition, by selecting or unselecting “display my name and comment on this petition”.
- Click the yellow button that says “Sign Petition”.
- Change.org will officially register your signature. They will then give you opportunities to share through social media/email/instant messaging/QR code, and an opportunity to write a comment. These help gain more signees, but aren’t necessary for your signature to count.
