Jayne Mansfield interviewed in her dressing room during her cabaret tour of the United Kingdom in March of 1967. Despite having a university education, a high I.Q., the ability to speak five languages and being a proficient piano and violin player, Jayne’s efforts to get better film roles and break away from her blonde bombshell image were repeatedly thwarted by the powers that be in Hollywood, leaving her typecast as a sexy “dumb blonde”. Sadly, Jayne tragically lost her life at the untimely age of 34 in a horrific late night car accident near Slidell, Louisiana on June 29th, 1967 (three months after this interview was filmed) while en-route to New Orleans for a television appearance to promote her cabaret act at the Gus Stevens Seafood Restaurant & Buccaneer Lounge in nearby Biloxi, Mississippi. However, as she accurately predicted, her image and status as an iconic and legendary sex symbol of the 1950s and 1960s endures and remains cemented in pop culture six decades later. It’s worth noting that when Jayne’s daughter, actress Mariska Hargitay, produced and directed the acclaimed documentary My Mom Jayne in 2025, she held a private screening for her friends Jane Fonda and Glenn Close. While watching a clip of Jayne in a rare dramatic scene opposite Joan Collins from the 1957 movie The Wayward Bus, Fonda turned to Mariska and said with tears in her eyes: “She was ~so good~! She never got a chance to prove herself.”

I have a question for fellow gifers out there and please excuse my ignorance. What do you do with gifs that are too big for posting here? I run into this so often and it really bums me out but I don’t have the faintest idea on how to work around this. I don’t have the best grasp on the site nor am I too savvy with websites either. Any guidance is so appreciated. Thank you!
