Plant of the day 🌿🍓
The strawberry is an ancient fruit, native to the Alps.
In ancient Rome, the strawberry was present for festivals in honor of Adonis.
In fact, legend has it that when Adonis died, Venus wept copious tears that, once on the ground, turned into small red hearts, the strawberries.
In medieval times, however, it became a symbol of temptation. It was also believed that anyone who ate strawberries would turn into a monster, probably because there were already allergic people who swelled after ingestion.
Strawberries have been listed as a superfood. They have more vitamin C than oranges, are rich in antioxidants as well as fiber.
But it doesn’t end there. Strawberries are also good for the brain. Strawberries have a high ability to stimulate a natural mechanism that leads the brain to “self-cleanse,” eliminating toxic substances that reduce brain function, such as memory, and counteract the onset of diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
