Monitoring. That’s all he’s been doing. Watching from the backgrounds while each scene unfolded in front of him like a glorious hymn, combining vocals with a flute and cello. But that hymn never sung for Saris’ own ears.
How many years had it been since he lost his sigil? He had begun to lose track, deciding after year three hundred fourty-eight that counting would only drive him insane. Even if he lost his sigil, he had his deal. A non-visual mark of love.
Alistar flipped a shell in his palm, the same one he slipped into his pocket upon being informed of the bunker in fear of losing it. It served as a teleportation to Saris’ location and a way to check in on her without being there. He had plenty of others scattered around, ones that he received when she insisted on relieving his anxiety of ‘losing track of her’.
But all that love was gone. His tricks had unwound and exploded at his feet, but through the ash and debris, there were still pieces to build stepping stones.
And that debris led him to a door labeled “Employees only”. Elijah’s home.
He couldn’t say whether it was luck, fate, or a use of resources that he found the portal. His resources allowed him to keep tabs on Elijah, luck is what allowed him to catch sight of him when he was wandering around, and fate is what caused The Manager to be too loopy on pain killers to be at their full potential.
—
3 days, 5 hours, 46 minutes, and 8 seconds until Elijah realized it’s been days without seeing Saris in person. No peaking her head in and no signs that she even stopped inside his home like the smell of salt water or a fish for dinner left on his table. He wasn’t even sure he would eat it currently with how he felt.
He wasn’t oblivious to the situation with Erodith, but was it truly as in control as she stated? It wasn’t as if he received any specific statements.
“She’s having a having a hard time but she’ll get better.”
“Sweetheart, don’t worry, they’re just adjusting.”
Anything to take his mind off of the events, but after spending so many hours with a god, even a human can tell when her tone goes monotone in an attempt to keep control over a situation.
And where was The Manager? Daily therapy sessions, as the deal stated, and today, they haven’t visited. Would it be an insult for a mortal to check on someone like them? It really depended god to god. Maybe, they just forgot? It wasn’t like they owed anything to him.
Elijah sighed and grabbed his coat before creaking the door open, checking ten times that the door was both locked and he had the key. He clicked “outdoor walk” on his garmin watch, which he bought himself for his birthday, then began down the path.
He didn’t know to where or even how long it’d be, but this was one of the places his mind took him when things slipped out of his control.
It was one step after another, something he could focus on while playing music in his head.
Elijah stared at his feet, careful to not twist an ankle or step in animal poop. It was difficult to hear his footsteps from the recent rain, mud cushioning each step.
He couldn’t find it in himself to stop even when his knees ached and his previous blisters on his feet bled through his socks. It was like there was a voice screaming at him to keep moving. Elijah checked his watch, wrinkling his nose at the screen.
Keep walking.
He could do that. He couldn’t help Saris but he knew how to move his legs. He knew how to ‘help’ himself.
And maybe in different circumstances, he would have seen the white-haired man before the situation bit him in the ass.
“It’s quite late to be out here, isn’t it?”
Elijah nearly leapt out of his skin, patting himself for his multi-use tool. Fuck, he knew he was missing something when he left the house. Great job.
“I’ve been out here later,” Elijah tried to keep his voice even but he began picking at his hands. “Any reason for you to come here?”
“I won’t pretend that I didn’t track you.”
“You wouldn’t be the first,” which was unfortunately the truth.
“Ah, so you’re used to it! I’m glad,” Elijah didn’t laugh at the joke. “But I need to talk to you.”
Elijah gestured for the other man to continue, heartbeat racing in his ears. All he knew was that this was no good.
“We both worship Saris. We both want the best for her and her daughter, even if we have different ways of portraying that.”
Elijah couldn’t hide his nose wrinkling as he bit back an insult. ‘Different ways of portraying that’ was the understatement of the century.
“I know, I’ve done some unpleasant stuff.”
No shit.
“But that’s not what I want to focus on this time. We need to cooperate in order to aid their situation.”
“It’s not our job to help a god without their permission,” he wanted to throw up from anxiety. “Let alone someone who had their sigil revoked for their offenses.”
Alistar’s hand twitched at his side, “For a fatal mistake made hundreds of years ago. That’s what it was. I was young and dumb. You’ve made mistakes of your own and that’s completely natural. We are building rapport and this is part of the process.”
Elijah stared before sighing. On one hand, he didn’t want to work with Alistar. On the other, he was defenseless, tired, and the sun was setting. A fight and trying to receive medical care due to the aftermath when he was a few miles from his home and many miles away from civilization in the dark wasn’t smart.
“I’ll hear you out.”
Elijah was just trying to keep the peace. In reality, he wanted nothing more than to find a way out of this. Part of the process of building rapport didn’t require breaking trust to ‘take care’ of her daughter, and he didn’t trust this, especially considering his background.
“Perfect. So, I have reason to believe Saris is currently mentally incapable of taking care of Natalie—“
“—Erodith,” he internally cussed himself out for correcting him. Keep the peace.
“—Whichever you’d like to call her. Saris is currently incapable of taking care of her daughter. That’s the point I’m making. She hasn’t been able to calm her daughter down and has spiraled back and forth in whether to erase or embrace Natalie’s memories. When The Manager came to help, they ended up needing pain killers and serious medical attention.”
So, that’s why they haven’t checked in on him. Fuck, he should’ve checked in on them. Are they gonna be mad? He should’ve done something.
Just calm down, they’re gonna be fine. Calm down and focus on the topic at hand. Ignore how you’re shaking.
“Daisy is doing her best but she ended up having to sedate her upon Erodith trying to kill herself.”
She tried to what? Elijah couldn’t imagine the agony that she had to be going through.
“Like it or not, Saris is lacking the knowledge of what to do and the people trying to help aren’t doing anything.”
He checked for any signs that he was lying but there were none…this couldn’t be right…Saris always knew what to do.
“They don’t have the experience and information that we do on Erodith. We can help.”
“…I don’t know if that’s smart though…it’s her own daughter.”
“Does it break rules? Yes. Is it disrespectful? It depends on how you define it. You define disrespect towards her as anything that breaks a rule, but that’s counterintuitive, no? Rules and deals are the very thing that make her feel like her body is being ripped apart if she even steps one toe out of line. Sometimes, rules hurt people. Occasionally, you have to go outside of what you consider acceptable in order to get a desired result.”
“I’m just human.”
“You’re just human but you’re not incapable. In some circumstances, humans aren’t as capable compared to other beings but this isn’t one of those circumstances. The hierarchy is a good rule of thumb, but it’s a loose fitting rule. A sign that humans may be better fit for the job is when two Nylarlathoteps and a human that has been graced with part of a Nyarlathotep’s powers at one point can’t handle the task. Elijah, look at me. We can thrive in these conditions when others aren’t.”
“I understand our relationship is far from anything close or trusting, but I ask you to trust me in this. You can monitor me every step of the way.”
A hand extended, anticipating a shake…Elijah took his hand in Alistar’s cold one.
All Elijah wanted to do was help. He could control Alistar enough to do that if things went wrong.
But when he ended up teleporting to Saris, equipped with a diving suit she had gifted him as a kid, that confidence evaporated. He felt dirty for using a gift of hers for something so putrid. It was like someone was taking his heart strings and trying to play violin using a dull knife for a bow.
Saris was asleep, practically hibernating, her skin more like a blanket than anything elastic. She was exhausted and even if Elijah wanted to do nothing more than to give her an actual blanket, he could. This is how he could help. That’s all he was here for: To help.
He was already inside the border and in front of him was Erodith, every muscle relaxed due to the sedative. She wasn’t looking much better than her mom, rope burn decorating her neck and her form being an uncomfortable mix between fish, bunny, and human.
…Did he really want to do this?
Saris stirred a bit and his heart leapt, spurred on by a new wave of adrenaline to get out of his thoughts. Get Erodith and get out. Alistar has a place to keep her safe. He’s planned this out for a long time. Trust him and you’re fine. You’ll be fine.
He was going to pass out from the level of anxiety coursing through every nerve. Elijah wanted to puke. This was disgusting. He was disgusting. What was he even doing? This was stupid.
Get Erodith and get out.
He crushed a shell in his palm, one that would bring him to Alistar’s intended location. The portal opened and so did Saris’ eyes. Unfortunately, Elijah didn’t realize that until he had already brought Erodith to the other side before feeling claws break past his diving gear.
Water flooded his suit and a crunch echoed through the hall as his oxygen tank broke as easily as a bubble.
The portal closed.
It was all he could see through the salt water clouding his vision and beginning to fill his lungs. The red staining the water is what took over his vision next but he clenched his eyes shut before there was anything more.
This is how he dies. Maybe, he would be okay with that.
@waylay-managment-2 (If you could, I’d appreciate if you send your reply as an ask just because of the length of this!)
Just finished reading The trouble with lemons im honestly trying to work on just reading more so finding books that I have had lying around for the ages has been really convenient. Honestly I think its good It was intrigued me more with mystery I really want to read somthing more mature reading also really slowly pushes me into wanting to write. But Im not so sure where to start for I’ll probably will just search some good mystery stories and start from there and keep on thinking about things I’d like to write down. Besides that feeling proud of myself I tried consistently reading yo work on reading stamina I’ve never really been able to sit down and read a whole book in one sitting so yeah I read consistently sort of.
Overall i liked it mainly cause i root for characters i see myself in like oh yeah I remember how that feels seeing somone go from being down and then being up is really just heartwarming everytime.

I finally finished this set of coasters I’ve been procrastinating for like a year! I finished the main body ages ago and just needed to do the borders. These are my go to out in the world project to work on when I need something to do with my hands. These would be up on my goimagine shop but unfortunately goimagine is shutting down :( but I will have them for sale at my next craft fair.
Here’s the pattern for the main body (the border isn’t included)(it’s free!):

I made the melt the ICE hat! This one is for my dad and I’m making another for my boyfriend right now. It’s a very easy hat to make, and supports a good cause.
Here’s the pattern, all proceeds go towards helping immigrants in Minneapolis:
In interviews to promote their 16th album, Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook have been upfront about the reason for its existence. After the world shrugged at The Knowledge in 2017, someone told Tilbrook: “‘Nobody is interested in a Squeeze record. What matters is Squeeze’s story.’ That stayed with me,” he says.
So not only does Trixies contain a story – it’s a concept-album-cum-musical about a…

I made myself a matching hat with my boyfriend out of the scraps from his Christmas present :) unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the original hat before gifting it.
Here’s the pattern I used (it’s free!):

New research into how people perceive differences between colors is reshaping a theory first proposed nearly 100 years ago by physicist Erwin Schrödinger. Roxana Bujack, a scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, led a team that applied geometry to precisely describe how we experience hue, saturation and lightness. Their findings, presented at a major visualization science conference,…
Schrödinger’s color theory finally completed after 100 years
Ooh, this is a fun one!
So besides the one you’d mentioned, Coming apart at the seams by PuffinStack, there’s one series that primarily comes to mind:
A Gentlemen’s Accord, If You Will by walkingcatfish (rated E, ongoing RadioApple series). This fic series starts with a RadioApple “Alastor cannibalizes Lucifer and Lucifer is into it” vibe, and stays largely “nonsexually erotic” until they get to some period-eating and Alastor has to contend with the fact that what he just did may in fact count as sex. It is a glorious Ace Panic scene, and these two are *genuinely* hilarious throughout the entirety of the series; I highly recommend it!
And in terms of fics I’ve recommended previously:
Strange Appetites by Gotllphi (rated E, ongoing RadioApple longfic), which I have a full post about on this blog, is a great diagetic BDSM piece featuring graphic RadioApple cannibalism and torture, but entirely within the coziest romcom setting (again, it’s an “Alastor cannibalizes Lucifer and Lucifer is into it” fic)!
And in “literally my favorite RadioStatic fic because these two are simply Ridiculous” territory, I will re-recommend Vintage Electronics by ckret2 - it lives up to its tag of “folks lemme be straight with you: sex acts may or may not be happening but this ain’t smut.” xD

Yes! I was one of those idiots that paid SIXTY SIX POUNDS for a piece of plastic that you put your Switch (or Switch 2) in, so you can sit awkwardly while playing games made for one of the worst consoles ever made! It’s like having two red-tinted Game Boys stuck in front of your eyes that you can only really play at a table (or, as I did, on the sofa with a teetering pile of lap cushions), all so…
Almost exactly 11 years ago, I played and completed (and then played some more) the original Fantasy Life game on the 3DS. I really enjoyed it, and after all this time I was excited to play the sequel.
Only, it isn’t really a sequel. There’s nothing, plot wise at least, that links this game to the previous one. Sure, the mechanics and graphical style are nearly the same, but there’s no story…
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time (Switch 2): COMPLETED!
