What is an ‘Update Poll’?

Generally, it’s a week-long poll that runs roughly once every two months. It usually starts at noon (MST/UTC-7) on the second Sunday of the month and ends at noon on the third Sunday.

While the poll is running, anyone who feels inclined to do so can vote for whatever fic they’d like to see updated soon! And that’s more or less all you could ever need to know about 'what’ it is, lol

What are the rules for Update Polls?

There are only really three 'rules’ to keep in mind.

First, you are limited to three votes per poll. Tumblr limits you to one, but per my silly and made-up rules you can get up to two additional votes by reblogging/replying to the poll and telling me which fic you want to see updated (limit: 1 reblog or reply), or by commenting on a fic on Ao3 during the poll’s runtime (limit: one comment per poll).

And, yes, you may vote for two or three different fics using your three votes. Or you can just put them all toward the one fic you really want to get updated!

Second, updates are scheduled in order of most to least votes. If there is a clear winner, then congrats! You know what’s going to update first. If there’s a tie, be prepared to be surprised, because I handle any and all tie-breaking using the WIP Wheel (self-explanatory).

Lastly, only six fics will be chosen for updates at the end of a poll. This is mostly so I don’t burn myself out trying to schedule too many fics all at once. But don’t worry if your fic didn’t make it onto the schedule - chances are, I might still go ahead and post an update for it if I have time, and I see that there’s interest.

What is an 'Upcoming Updates’ post?

As the name suggests, this is a post that I put together after the conclusion of each poll. It functions kind of like a TV Guide, telling you which fics will be updated and when.

Regarding scheduled dates, unfortunately these are not set in stone. They could change any time, for any reason - or be postponed 'indefinitely’ (by which I mean: 'I will probably just toss it into the next round of upcoming updates’.)
As much as I’d like to be able to meet my deadlines every single time, I do work a full-time, labor-intensive job and don’t always have enough time/energy to finish an update if things at work have been particularly busy. Please be patient with me lmao

Reading the Upcoming Updates post.

Each 'Upcoming Updates’ post will usually have two sections: the ’Coming Soon’ section and the ’Later’ section.

The ’Coming Soon’ section will contain 2-3 fics that will update within the next month. The ’Later’ section will contain 2-3 fics that will update the following month or later.

Within those sections, you’ll find the fic listings. These contain the following vital information, more or less in this exact format:

• Fic Title (Ch. [#])* - [date for update in MM/DD format]
• Part [#] of [series]*. Fic summary.
• Chapter summary*.

*if applicable.

And that’s basically all there is to these two things.

If I may redirect you to the muse tags on the pinned post, that post will be reused as a master post for ALL of my muses regardless of whatever may happen on the lore-centric posts on those ends. The tags post still won’t have links (blame Tumblr’s 100-link limit for that!), but each tab’s row will eventually get a description of the character they’re referring to, which should help people understand how I write my characters here.

Currently, Renko, Maribel, and Koakuma have this description, but I also want some feedback on this one as to whether I should keep going with this while I roam down my roadmap (also on the pinned) in the future as a side activity.

In an effort to keep my creative focus on track, I’m going to put Asks on hold for a while. Just until 1) I get these character sheets done and 2) the next month or so of upcoming IRL stress passes.
